✦ A Flint River Blues Original ✦
Every family has one. The one who fires up the pit for the reunion. The one who shows up at the church eat-out with a cooler full of ribs and leaves with an empty pan. The one who has been cooking for the community for decades — unrecognized, unsponsored, and undeniably the best BBQ anyone has ever tasted.
The Homeboy Backyard BBQ Cookoff is our homage to the grassroots of the culture. No corporate sponsors. No professional rigs. Just the real ones — competing for the title of best BBQ in the community and the recognition they have always deserved.
Open to backyard cooks only — no professional pitmasters, no competition rigs, no sponsored teams. This is for the ones who cook because they love it.
Paying homage to the culture that built Southern BBQ — the family reunions, the church eat-outs, the block parties. The grassroots tradition that never needed a trophy to prove itself.
A real stage, real judges, real recognition. The winner earns the title of Flint River Homeboy Grand Champion — and the community finally gets to say what it already knew.
